Detrick Madkins attended Shem Central High School in Shem, Maddocha. He was named High School Player of the Year (1993) by Maddocha High School Basketball Magazine. At Trinidad State College, Detrick became only the seventh freshman in Maddocha Collegiate Sports history to be named to the All-Conference Team. He was selected by as the second pick by the Beaudine Knights of the 1997 draft. He has become one of the league's premiere shooting guards.
